The Engine Trials

By order of the Society: one challenge per day, the same for everyone. The writ names an engine, a coal ration, a contract load, and one wrinkle — a sealed valve, a condenser under repair. Tune the free levers, take the reading, and beat par duty. The best engines are published in the Engine Reporter, after the Cornish practice of 1811. A new writ is posted every midnight.
